About the profession
Electronics technicians for automation technology set up highly complex, computer-controlled industrial systems. They ensure that the individual components form an automatically operating overall system. To do this, they program and test the lines, put them into operation and maintain them. They mainly work in companies that develop, manufacture or use automation solutions. Companies in the electrical and mechanical engineering industries are the main candidates.
Prerequisites for the training
- Qualified secondary school leaving certificate, intermediate school leaving certificate or Abitur
- Craftsmanship, diligence and perseverance
- Technical understanding
- Good grades in math and physics
- Spatial and color vision
